Force open up against Waratahs

THE Western Force held on to beat the Waratahs 20-21 and secured their first Super Rugby victory of the 2012 season.

The Waratahs lost last weekend in Dunedin against the Highlanders which means that the Sydney-siders have now lost to the bottom ranked team and the top ranked Super Rugby team in two weeks and have a record of won one and lost three overall.

Western Force fullback David Harvey scored a try on his Super Rugby debut and kicked three penalties as well as converted his own try.

Both teams scored two tries each but the difference came down to kicks. Harvey kicked three penalties to Daniel Halangahu's two penalties.

Western Force winger Samu Wara crossed for the match-winning try in the 64th minute.
