1. Renee Geyer

RENEE Geyer's past is Australia's music history. Her career has spanned four decades and is still going strong. A precocious jazz, blues and soul singer in her late teens; Countdown royalty in her 20s; a string of pop, soul and reggae hits spanning the 1970s and 1980s; her LA years in the studio with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Sting, Joe Cocker and Chaka Kahn; her 1990s renaissance with Paul Kelly.

She is a singer, a songwriter, producer and author.

At Ballina RSL Club, 240 River St, Ballina, this Friday, from 7.30pm. $30.

2. The Dirty Channel

FORMED in 2008, Dirty Channel is a four-piece, high-energy, straight-ahead Detroit-style rock band.

With a unique blend of old-school punk elements, garage rock, blues and post-punk sensibilities, they blend a variety of influences into their original material.

Dirty Chanel recently released their debut independent 10 track recording, "Just Enough." Looking towards 2012 they plan to ramp up their live performances' and continue to expand their musical horizons.

At Club Lennox, Lennox Head, this Sunday from 4pm.

3. Art, Culture & Education

FOUR brilliant-minded cultural icons will come together for the first time to discuss how education can be better delivered through art and culture.

This thought-provoking discussion will be chaired by Rhoda Roberts AO, whose rich background in arts and culture will fuel the conversation with this dynamic panel. The panel includes Hip Hop artist, historian, writer, and activist Akala (UK), Bundjalung artist, curator and activist Djon Mundine OAM, and rising Indigenous literary star Ellen van Neerven.

At Park Lane Theatre, Lennox Community Centre, 1 Mackney Lane, Lennox Head, on Wednesday, December 7, from 6pm. Adults $30, $25 concession, $10 students (bookings of 10 or more).

AFTER the Bergens invade Troll Village, Princess Poppy (picture above), the happiest Troll ever born, and the curmudgeonly Branch set off on a journey to rescue her friends.

This animated musical film by DreamWorks features the voices of Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake and Zooey Deschanel.

THIS is your last chance to catch Ballina Players latest musical comedy, based on the story of a house of ill repute in Texas.

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas opened on Broadway in June 1978 and ran for 1584 performances.
