Five near-drownings spark water safety reminder
AFTER five near-drownings within hours, Australia's water-safe guru Laurie Lawrence has urged parents to be vigilant.
Mr Lawrence visited his swim school in Banora Point on Monday to remind parents how quickly disaster can strike in the swimming pool.
Just days before the start of the National SwimSAFER week, Queensland Ambulance Paramedics attended five incidents where children under four fell into swimming pools on the Gold Coast on Saturday afternoon.
All five children were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Despite all of them being supervised, paramedics say they're all lucky to be alive.
