Fisherman winched to safety

A FISHERMAN had a lucky escape when he fell from the rocks at Boulder Beach just south of Lennox Head on Sunday morning.

Robert Blanch was knocked off balance and injured his hip but managed to scramble back to the rocks on shore.

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter attended and winched him to safety.

With police and SES also on the scene, it was decided to take him by road ambulance to Lismore Base Hospital.

Late Sunday he was reported to be in a stable condition.
