THE finalisation of the two-day games in the Ones and the Twos last weekend saw both teams lose their first games for the season with the Seconds failing to chase down the runs they conceded last weekend against T.E.B.

The Firsts, however, did manage to get a 1st innings win against their fellow top-dwellers on the ladder, Cudgen, only to lose the game outright. This may seem like a bit of a drama but the points' allocation of 7 for a first innings win and 8 for an outright win with a first innings loss sees the Bay go one point behind Cudgen on the ladder.

The Thirsty Fours had yet another win scoring nearly 250 off 40 overs up at Alstonville, batting first.

The story of the week, however, was the maiden century for our club by the Four's unassuming opener, Carlos. He batted an efficient 114 run total, always looking in control - a joy to watch him realise his potential and set up a big and winning total.

The Ones took up their efforts from the previous week to finish off the Cudgen side three runs short of the total to gain a win on the first innings. The Bay then batted well below potential to fall cheaply for 90 in our second dig. The Hornets then chased down the runs off 17 overs with six wickets in hand. The Second Grade faced an "overnight" declaration of 9-329 following a powerful display by the 'Bar at KSS last Saturday and chased valiantly but were unable to overcome that big total.

Returning captain Cal top scored with 27 before mistiming a hook shot. Tom Apin hung in there as an opener for 24, falling when the score was 120. Lucas hobbled through for 22, Nige thumped 21 and the Junior Angy was 13 n.o. with the team all out for 156 at 10 past five in the evening.

The Thirsty Fours continued on their undefeated way, making it their 15th win in a row having last been defeated on February 4 this year. This time it was the turn of the Alstonville Stump Hunters to cop the brunt of having a run-rate of 6.22 scored against them.

The Red Soilers had a bit of a go, scoring 177 off their 40 overs.
