Family left devastated after fire destroys factory

A FAMILY are devastated after fire destroyed their factory at The Channon overnight.

Fire broke out at the lemon myrtle processing factory around 11.30pm and has completely destroyed the facility and stock inside.

Loud bangs were heard at the time, believed to be gas cylinders.

The well-known family built their business from scratch and has become one of the largest lemon myrtle farms in the world.

The Rural Fire Service responded and while not able to save the factory, were able to stop the fire spreading to nearby lemon myrtle trees and property on the farm.

At this stage, the fire was believed to have started with an electrical fault but investigations are continuing.
