THE fiancee of a young man killed in a jetskiing accident weeks before they were due to marry has paid tribute to his "quirky" personality.

Launceston man Luke Rice, 22, was killed on Monday while jetskiing at Trevallyn Dam on the South Esk River in Tasmania.

The accident occurred just weeks before he was due to marry his long-term girlfriend Zoe Sloane.

The couple planned to marry on February 4 after getting engaged almost two years ago.

Ms Sloane described her fiance as a "quirky" and unique person and told that a group of his loved ones gave Luke a special send-off on Tuesday night.

"We sent him off doing what he loves doing most which is burnouts and skids," she said.

Ms Sloane said she had received overwhelming support from friends, family and even people they hardly knew, who all loved his quirky ways.

"It is crazy to see how much Luke really did impact people's lives because he definitely put a dent in everyone," she said.

"We will never ever find such a unique person like him again."

In an emotional Facebook post, Ms Sloane said she felt "numb and broken".

"We were meant to grow old together, we were meant to get married and have an amazing life, you were meant to hear my wedding vows.

"We were meant to be together for ever and now we can't be."

But she said she knew he would be with his grandparents.

"I can't wait to see you again," she wrote.

"I love you forever and always my baby, you are my whole world."

Ms Sloane also posted a video doing burnout in his car, saying she would never get rid of it.

"This one is for you Luke. Doing what you loved doing most in the car that you adored," she wrote in the post.

"I will never ever get rid of your car, I know how much it meant to you."

Ms Sloane's cousin, Oscar Stone was Luke's best friend and was due to be best man at the wedding.

"From the day you were born and brought to your family home, we became bestmates, I spent my childhood living next door to you," Mr Stone wrote on his Facebook page.

"I got the honour and got asked to be the best man for your wedding, an experience that I was looking forward to.

"You will be missed by many mate, you were always there for me as I was always there for you too," the post said.

"Rest easy up there brother. I will always love you forever man. RIP champion."
