THIS year a pamper tent was added as an off-track attraction in a bid to attract more females to the races, and stock marketed at women was sold out by midway through the afternoon.

Ballina Jockey Club general manager Matthew Bertram said the Fashions on the Field events also had 70 entrants across six categories, which was the most seen in the past five years.

Sally Monti, from Alstonville, was judged the overall winner with her Camilla and Mark dress, topped with a hatinator she only bought on eBay last Friday.

She was thankful to Australia Post for getting the must-have accessory to her from Melbourne on Tuesday just in time for race day.

The judging panel noted her outfit was "simple yet elegant".
