Expo is a first for Ballina
THE Northern Rivers’ coastal lifestyle will be on show and celebrated when the inaugural Coastal Lifestyle Expo is held at the Ballina RSL Club on Sunday, November 28.
More than 40 businesses have accepted the opportunity to showcase their wares from 10am until 4pm, while from 6pm, there will be fashion and bikini parades arranged by Michelle Chandler’s Le Chelle and C Chelle boutiques, and music by Beau Young, Will Conner, Mal and the Longboarders and Dennis Nattrass, who will play live while footage from film-maker George Greenough is screened.
The event is being organised by the Lennox National Surfing Reserve Association, and it will also offer about $10,000 in prizes, including a trip for two to a Samoan resort. The prize includes airfare and is worth $5500.
Lennox National Surfing Reserve Association chairman Phil Myers said the expo was ‘not a corporate thing’. “We’re promoting local businesses to local people,” he said.
By attending, patrons will be in the running to win prizes such as the trip to the Sa’Moana Resort in Samoa, surfing-related products and art products.
Archival photographs and footage collected by the Lennox Surfing Reserve Association and collated by Lennox Head film-maker Marcus Baker also will be on display.
Admission is $5 for an individual or $10 for a family of four.
