Essential energy issues warning for sugar cane harvest

ESSENTIAL Energy is warning farmers and agricultural contractors working on sugar cane harvests to take care when operating machinery near powerlines.

It said identifying the location of electrical infrastructure would reduce risk.

Farmers planning to burn off cane near powerlines should notify the electricity company at least 12 hours in advance.
