Erratic Steven crashes to 32nd in title
PEREGIAN Beach's Steven Bowditch all-but crashed out of contention at the Australian Masters yesterday, when Paul Spargo took the lead.
Bowditch, who has enjoyed a career-best year which included winning on the US PGA Tour, was arguably the one to beat after claiming a clubhouse lead on day one at Melbourne.
But the 31-year-old's opening round of five-under par 67 was brought undone by a round of three-over par 75 on Friday and one-over par 73 yesterday.
He heads into today's final round at the Metropolitan Golf Course in a share of 32nd place on one-under, seven shots adrift of leader Paul Spargo
South Australian Spargo carded a third round of one-under 71 to claim a one-stroke lead over overnight leader Michael Wright, who battled with a round of two-over.
Amateur Lucas Herbert was the mover of the day. His round of seven-under took him to six-under and a share of third, alongside Nick Cullen and James Nitties.
Geoff Ogilvy was three shots off the lead. Adam Scott was in a tie for eighth place on four-under.
