Entry deadline nears for Master Builders awards

BUILDERS and trade contractors are urged to enter Queensland's most prestigious building accolades, the Master Builders Housing & Construction Awards.

Master Builders executive director Graham Cuthbert said entry was open to residential and commercial Master Builders members across Queensland.

"By submitting an entry, builders and trade contractors have the opportunity to be recognised as being at the forefront of building innovation and quality craftsmanship," Mr Cuthbert said.

"Their projects will be assessed by independent judges who look at criteria such as quality of workmanship, degree of construction difficulty, external appeal, siting and aspect, and amenities and aesthetics.

"As always, Master Builders is seeking excellence in the housing and construction industry across an expansive range of categories that suit almost every project.

"These range from trade contractors and small family businesses to the biggest names in the building and construction industry.

"Categories for apprentices, women in building and 'rising stars' provide encouragement and recognition across the industry for winners."

Master Builders held its inaugural Housing Awards in 1987, renaming the program the Housing & Construction Awards in 1988 to include the commercial industrial field.

In 2012 almost 900 entries were received from across the state. Regional winners go on to be judged at a state level.

Entries are being accepted now, with early bird entries closing on March 28, 2013.
