England’s Roy smashes 162

CRICKET: Opener Jason Roy has made the second-highest score in a one-day international by an Englishman as the home team won the fourth ODI at the Oval against Sri Lanka.

Roy smashed 162 as England chased down the visitors’ total of 5-305 in a match reduced to 42overs a side by rain.

England took the series 2-0 after Roy’s century and Joe Root’s 65 took it to 4-308, its second-highest successful run chase in the 50-over format.

The ODI series ends in Cardiff on Saturday night.
