England selectors short-change fans

FORMER England captain Michael Vaughan believes fans should get refunds for the coming one-day international series against Australia, with most of the Ashes-winning stars to be rested.

Skipper Alastair Cook, Ian Bell, Stuart Broad, James Anderson and Graeme Swann were not named for the five-match series.

The Australians also made a host of changes - only seven of its 18-man ODI squad played in the Ashes.

"I would have only rested captain Cook. Plenty of time to rest from Sept 16th - Nov 21st," Vaughan (pictured) posted on Twitter. "Can't sell tickets then rest 5 star names!"

The first match of England's return tour to Australia is just two months away, starting October 31.

Australia will take on Scotland in a one-dayer on Tuesday before starting its series against England next Friday.

Leg spinner Fawad Ahmed could make his debut for his adopted country in the first of two Twenty20 internationals against England, tomorrow morning.

Captain George Bailey said if the Southampton wicket was dry, the former Pakistani asylum seeker would be right in the mix for selection.
