Empty milk tanker hits shop at Croydon

A MILK truck crashed into a building on a major Sydney road overnight, killing the driver and blocking traffic for several hours.

The empty tanker hit a shop front on Parramatta Rd at Croydon about 11.30pm.

The driver was trapped inside the wreckage and died at the scene.

Residents living above the shop were evacuated amid fears the building would collapse.

Traffic was still being diverted on Friday morning.
