Skateboarder critical after being hit by a car

A MAN riding an electric powered skateboard is in a critical condition after colliding with a car on the Gold Coast.

Police said the accident happened around 10.30pm on the Robina Parkway at Merrimac.

The 33-year-old skateboard rider sustained a serious head injury and was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
