Elderly woman hit by car, suffers serious head injury

AN elderly woman has suffered a serious head injury after being struck by a car on Kerr St, Ballina.

Paramedics were called to the scene just after 12.20pm.

An Ambulance NSW media spokesman said an off-duty paramedic had luckily been in the area when the incident happened and was able to help stabilise the woman temporarily.

She is now en route with paramedics to Lismore Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
