Eels grounded as Knights take big win on the road

NEWCASTLE has ended Parramatta's eight-game unbeaten winning streak at home this season, holding off the Eels to win 16-10 in an error-riddled contest.

Knights winger Akuila Uate opened the scoring with his 10th try of the season, crossing after just five minutes thanks to some good lead-up work from Kade Snowden and Darius Boyd.

Not to be outdone, Parramatta co-captain Jarryd Hayne replied just three minutes later with his 11th of the season, taking possession 20m out from his own line, stepping around Uate and racing 80m to put the Eels ahead 6-4.

After Joey Leilua put the visitors up 10-6, thanks to a handling error by Eels centre Ryan Morgan, Boyd (pictured) trumped Hayne's runaway try with a 95m effort to send the Knights to the break with a 16-6 lead.

Newcastle was unable to find the line in the second half, the sole four-pointer coming from Semi Radradra.
