East Lismore man charged over firearms offences

A 44-year-old man has been charged after breaching his bail at East Lismore yesterday, police have said.

About 2pm yesterday, police attached to Richmond Local Area Command Drug Unit attended a property on Esmonde Street.

Officers executed a search warrant at the property, as part of an on-going investigation into the supply of the drug Ice as well as firearms in the region, allegedly seizing a shotgun and a handmade pistol.

The man was arrested and taken to Lismore Police Station where he was charged with two counts of possessing an authorised firearm, possessing a loaded firearm in a non public place, and breaching bail conditions.

He was refused bail and will appear at Lismore Local Court today.
