Drugs, cash seized in blitz
A SIGNIFICANT amount of drugs and more than $35,000 in cash was seized in Ballina after a two day police blitz.
The traffic and drug operation commenced on Wednesday night on the Pacific Highway and over 800 vehicles were stopped.
A police search of a hire car found $36,860 of suspect cash.
A police drug detection dog was also on scene and 305 grams of cannabis and 29 grams of white powder were found as a result.
Thirty traffic infringement notices were issued, five drink driving offences and seven offences for drug possession.
The intensive operation aimed to minimise road trauma leading into the holiday period.
