Drought support extended by six months
SUPPORT for drought-affected families in Queensland and New South Wales has been extended for an extra six months.
As Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce seeks wider Coalition support to add $100 million to concessional loans, the extra mental health funds were the first signal of more to come on Thursday.
Up to $3.5 million will be available for farming families struggling with the drought in both eastern states, through mental health and social support programs, extended to June next year.
The funding also includes support for regional drought co-ordinators.
