Drink driving and speeding at 8am: Woman loses license

A 58-year-old woman had her license suspended after drink driving 30km/h over the speed limit.

Police from Richmond Local Area Command allege that at 8.18am Tuesday morning the Goonellabah woman was sighted driving a vehicle at a speed of 70km/h in a 40km/h zone on Casino Street, South Lismore, Senior Constable David Henderson said.

The woman also failed a breath test.

She was taken to Lismore Police Station where she provided a breath analysis that placed her in the High Range drink driving category.

She has been charged with high range drink driving and exceeding speed by more than 30km/h an hour, snr const Henderson said.

Police also suspended her driver's licence.

She is to appear in Lismore Local Court in January.
