Devastated BDO-ticket-holding Blur fans offered refunds

BLUR fans disappointed with the band's withdrawal from Big Day Out will get refunds.

Co-promoter AJ Maddah confirm ticket holders not happy with the absence of the British rock band, who announced their cancellation on their Facebook page on Sunday, or their yet to be confirmed replacement will be able to get refunds.

Maddah told the Sydney Morning Herald that the festival's promoters were "caught with our pants down".

With the band blaming the festival's organisers for their cancellation, Maddah was also keen to tell the SMH how Blur had already taken the first part of their fee before pulling out and that finding a replacement on such short notice - the 2014 tour starts in Auckland on January 17 - won't be "cheap".

In the Facebook post, which has been shared nearly 1000 times, the band said: "Only 8 weeks to go, the band feels that with the constantly shifting goalposts and challenging conditions of the organisers, they can't let it drag on any longer and want to make this announcement, to be clear to Blur fans that they won't be there. We've done our very best to work with the organisers and considered every option to make it happen, but they've let us down and let everyone else down too."
