Desserts can help you lose weight

I AM going to make a statement that many will jump for joy when they hear it, I believe that having desserts can help you lose weight.

Yes, that's right if you have a sweet tooth you will definitely benefit on your weightloss journey if you include dessert. There is no need to torture yourself with a diet full of restrictions if you just make some simple adjustments. Having a healthy enjoyable diet that you can commit yourself to for the rest of your life is definitely the way to go!

So if you want to know how then read on:

1. Desserts make us feel happier and contented. It's a proven fact that when feeling upset, lonely or depressed smooth creamy textured food can lift your spirit. Feeling happy and content will motivate you to lose extra weight and you may also feel more confident so you are able to continue longer than a day if you know you can have sweets regularly.
2. I have always found it uplifting to know that I can eat fabulously delicious desserts, all I have to do is open any of my six cookbooks and go to the 'guilt free' dessert section and I instantly feel satisfied, content and happy.
3. We use desserts to spoil or reward us every now and then. To celebrate a special event or occasion and to have because we can. Desserts don't need to be something you choose every day but if you have a liking for dessert then including it into your eating regime on a regular basis is essential for long term success on any weightloss program.
4. I doubt if desserts have caused you to fail on any of your previous diets, there is much more to it than just that. Was your eating plan too restricted, were you always hungry, bored with the food you were eating and lacked the motivation to continue? If you answered yes to any of these then I suggest you get a copy of my fifth cookbook which includes a simple and easy 28 day weight loss plan plus a fabulous dessert section such as Baked Fruit Salad Cheesecake, Crème Brulee, Chocolate Berry Profiteroles and so much more. Think how can you make the correct changes to your eating plan so you avoid failure.
5. The secret is to make sure you eat a moderate serving and don't go back for seconds. Desserts can be healthy and easily included in anyone's eating plan, just remember portion control and good choices are the keys to losing weight with desserts.

2 tablespoons (30g) Flora Light® margarine
½ cup boiling water
1 teaspoon sugar
½ cup plain flour
1 egg white
1 whole egg
cooking spray

¾ cup skim milk
1½ tablespoons custard powder
1½ tablespoons sugar
¼ teaspoon vanilla essence
¾ cup (90g) frozen mixed berries

8 squares (32g) dark cooking chocolate
⅓ cup skim milk
¾ teaspoon cornflour
Preheat oven 210ºC fan forced
To make profiteroles: In a medium sized saucepan combine margarine, water and sugar. Bring to boil, stir occasionally. Add flour in one go, stir vigorously with wooden spoon until mixture comes completely together and forms a ball. Remove and place in a medium sized mixing bowl, allow to cool for 2 minutes. In a small mixing bowl beat egg white and whole egg together using a fork. Slowly beat the eggs into mixture using an electric beater until it forms a smooth shiny dough. Coat a baking tray with cooking spray then spoon a dessertspoon of mixture onto tray. Makes 12 balls. Bake 10 minutes on 210ºC then reduce oven to 180ºC for 20 minutes or until balls are golden brown. Leave to cool.
To make custard: Place all custard ingredients except berries into a small saucepan, stir continuously using a whisk until custard boils. Leave to cool. Fold berries gently through custard.
To make chocolate sauce: Place all chocolate sauce ingredients into a small saucepan. Cook on a slow heat until mixture boils, simmer for 1 minute, stir continuously. Leave to cool.
To prepare chocolate profiteroles: Once all ingredients have cooled, cut balls in half using a sharp knife. Spoon custard filling into the bottom half of each ball, then top with other half. Spoon an even amount of chocolate sauce over each one. Refrigerate.
