Depleted Reds face tough test

FOOTBALL: Adelaide United defender Daniel Bowles will miss the next seven weeks due to a significant ankle injury, ruling him out of tonight's A-League clash against the Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium.

Marcelo Carrusca is also likely to miss the next two games as he recovers from an adductor injury.

But the Reds have been bolstered by the return of suspended duo Nigel Boogaard (pictured) and Isaias, who have been named in an extended squad of 18.

Meanwhile, Sydney FC midfielder Nick Carle said morale was still high in the Sky Blues camp despite last Saturday night's 4-0 loss to Brisbane, ahead of tonight's Sydney derby against the Wanderers at a packed Allianz Stadium.

"We will stick to the game plan and if something goes wrong we don't drop the bundle," he said.

Having played in an advanced role earlier in his career, Carle has been used by head coach Frank Farina in a more defensive role, and he is revelling in his new position as the anchor in midfield.
