YAMBA'S Denise Patten is not the shy, retiring type, she is full of colour and is one very lively woman; it must be her star sign - Aries.

Denise and her husband moved to Yamba 10 years ago and have spent a lot of the past four years working and holidaying in and around Abu Dhabi.

While she is home Denise loves to play golf and her ukulele, which she has been playing on and off for years.

Once a month a Yamba ukulele group come together to play at the Old Kirk, while once a week a few of them gather at local cafes around Yamba to practise.

"I love the ukulele because it is fun and a quirky instrument and it just makes people smile because it sounds so bad sometimes," Denise said with a chuckle.

While Denise loves to travel the world she is always happy to return to Yamba.

"I love the people, the environment and the lifestyle," she said.
