Aussies hot on track with more gold medals


AUSTRALIA'S gold rush at the velodrome continued on day three with Scott Sunderland (pictured) defending his 1000m time trial victory from Delhi four years ago in a new Games record time of 1:00.675.

That was the fifth gold medal for the track cycling team, coming hot on the heels of the women's 10km scratch race where Annette Edmondson beat teammate Amy Cure.

It was Edmondson's second medal of the meet, matching the haul of her brother Alex.

Dual Olympian Emily Seebohm also set a new Games record in defending her 100m backstroke gold medal in 59.37secs. Teammate Belinda Hocking took bronze.

Daniel Fox took gold in the men's para-sport 200m freestyle S14 event, just hours after setting a new world record of 1:57.16 in the heats.

In another great night in the pool, Taylor McKeown took out the 200m women's breaststroke, and the women's 4x200m freestyle relay team of Emma McKeon, Alicia Coutts, Brittany Elmslie and Bronte Barratt beat Canada to claim gold, the third of the games for McKeon.
