CSI Lismore cracks cold cases
POLICE say they have cracked crimes dating back six and 10 years with fingerprint technology.
Officers in the Richmond Local Area Command yesterday charged a 25-year-old man with the two old offences after discovering his fingerprints matched prints found in a car that had been stolen from Lismore in 2003 and at a Lismore high school that was broken into in 2009.
The command has reported on its Facebook page that officers spoke to the man at Goonellabah yesterday and then charged him with the offences. The man declined to comment to police about the allegations leveled at him.
"This goes to show that crimes are not forgotten," the command said on its Facebook page.
"These results may not have been delivered as quickly as they would have been on CSI however we got there in the end."
