Cowboys rangle the Broncos

NORTH Queensland fullback Matt Bowen produced some special magic to pull off an amazing 28-26 NRL win over Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

The diminutive Bowen celebrated his 30th birthday by stunning the massive crowd of 43,171 with the match-winning play in the 79th minute, racing from the base of a scrum 20 metres out to score under the posts.

Ten minutes earlier, Brisbane had reclaimed the lead through a try to utility Ben Te'o who finished off a slick movement involving hooker Andrew McCullough, Corey Norman and Justin Hodges.

Bowen had a Jekyll and Hyde night, spilling the ball a number of times coming off his line.

But he redeemed himself with a piece of special play that was almost impossible to defend, throwing a huge dummy before blowing through a hole to break Brisbane's heart.
