Country singing duo on the road

AFTER a spate of tours from bearded man-bands, country music is putting on its gorgeous face.

Stars Gina Jeffreys and Beccy Cole are taking their 20-year friendship on the road and will play Sawtell RSL on February 11.

"Last time I was in town was with Beccy, on the Songbirds tour," Gina Jeffreys said.

"It was the most successful joint country music tour in Australian history - it just went nuts!"

"We love coming here, it sort of feels like a holiday."

Fans can expect a show full of hit songs, showcasing the tight personal and musical relationship between Cole and Jeffreys.

"You get a great sense of our friendship," Jeffreys said.

"I'll tell you lots of stories about Beccy for free!"

Stories are one of the many things Jeffreys has had no shortage of in her stellar 20-year career.

Since winning the Toyota Starmaker Award in 1991, she has won countless accolades and performed all over the world.

Now Jeffreys is happy to pass on her hard won knowledge to up and coming country musicians in her own mentoring program.

"It took me years of being on the road getting it wrong to learn how to do it right," she said, on giving advice to young musicians.

"The greatest thing I could tell them is they're unique - be natural."
