Quade Cooper to carry on attacking

RUGBY: A confident Quade Cooper has vowed to play deep in the Reds attacking line as Queensland sets about rebuilding its 2014 Super Rugby campaign against the Stormers at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.

The attacking mastermind scored two tries in the controversial 23-20 Ellis Park loss to the Lions in Johannesburg last week, a result that infuriated Reds coach Richard Graham. It also prompted a tweet from former Wallaby Drew Mitchell from France that South African referee Stuart Berry had "piggy-backed them (the Stormers) over the line".

The usually-composed Graham's anger and frustration boiled over in his post-match comments despite his best efforts to select his words carefully.

"It would be fair to say that I felt aggrieved at the end of the match when we were down to six forwards and a back on the scrum, and we're going forward and (the Lions front row) stand up and we're not rewarded," he fumed.

Earlier this week SANZAR officials said Berry would not officiate for the next two weeks, but denied he had been dumped.

Queensland is the most penalised team in Super Rugby, but Cooper said his side was not the competition's bad boys by any means, adding he would continue to play his normal game.

"I am going to play as flat as possible and try and push the boundaries to continue to try and get my team on the front foot," he declared. After playing four of their first five games this season on the road, the Reds now play their next three games at home," he said. "We're back at home to play at Suncorp Stadium in front of our own fans and that's a great feeling."
