Community land sell-off rethink

CR Jeff Johnson has lodged a rescission motion to reverse last month's Ballina Shire Council decision to sell off two lots of community land at Lennox Head.

The land is at 2-4 Ross St, near the Lake Ainsworth caravan park.

"These blocks of land are the only ones council owns in this already-congested precinct," Cr Johnson said.

"They are opposite the surf club car park and close to Lake Ainsworth.

"My alternative motion is calling for a deferral on any decision to sell the land until after the Lake Ainsworth precinct management plans have been reviewed.

"These blocks are better off going towards improving the amenity of the area, rather than to satisfy the expansion wishes of the caravan park."
