COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley has labelled the media treatment given to former colleague and now Melbourne coach Mark Neeld as unfair.

Buckley acknowledged everyone was entitled to an opinion, but added, "as long as it's fair-minded and balanced".

"I thought the trial by media last week was a disgrace," he said.

"No one's at the board meeting, no one knows what's going on. But he's been able to hold his calm and his cool pretty well.

"A coach and players can only ever focus on what they're in control of, and I know 'Neeldy' really well and he's definitely able to do that."
