Coach stays Kewell ahead of clash

VICTORY coach Ange Postecoglou believes Socceroos superstar Harry Kewell's presence for the Heart should not add any extra spice to the Melbourne derby.

A bumper crowd is expected for this eagerly-awaited round one fixture and Kewell (pictured) is a former Victory player.

"We had 40-odd thousand there last year and I'm sure we'll get upwards of that this year," Postecoglou said.

"It'll be a great way to start the season. From our perspective we want to make sure we please our fans, give a good performance and get the right result."

While Postecoglou stopped short of naming what his troops would be aiming for this season, the coach said the expectations at his club were always high.

Meanwhile, Sydney FC striker Corey Gameiro has been ruled out for up to six weeks.

The 20-year-old suffered a freak accident while filming a promotional video for Fox Sports, dislocating his right knee after slipping on a marbled floor.

Reports suggested Gameiro was juggling a ball between his hands, dropped it and slipped in his metal studs as he went to grab it.
