ON THE day when his Palmer United Party senators will form a powerful bloc within the upper house, party leader Clive Palmer has stirred up a hornet's nest by describing Premier Campbell Newman as "a Nazi".

Mr Palmer told reporters as he arrived at Parliament House on Monday that, "Of course he's a Nazi. he wants to use the Gestapo, you know", referring to the Queensland Premier.

The Gestapo was the secret police dispatched by the Nazis to kill enemies or dissenters.

Before the end of the day, the PUP will hold the balance of power in the Senate with four votes including Ricky Muir of the Australian Motoring Enthusiasts Party

NewsCorp is reporting the magnate's harsh rebuke of the Premier were a response to Mr Newman saying he was unsure why police were not investigating allegations Mr Palmer misused company funds to pay for his party's election campaign.

In the report, Mr Newman said, "Let me just say that my grab on that would be, given the amount of information in the public domain now, I am surprised that either the WA or the Queensland Police haven't yet appears to have initiated any sort of investigation".

Mr Palmer told reporters the allegations were false, "rubbish" and "a fantasy".

Senior Queensland LNP figures including the Premier and Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney have done battle both in the media and in the courts.

Mr Palmer is currently taking separate Supreme Court defamation actions against both Mr Newman and Mr Seeney.

In May, Queensland Labor MP Jackie Trad found herself in hot water after likening fly-in, fly-out accommodation to a "concentration camp".
