Cleaner accused of stealing from police fronts court

A CLEANER who was charged with stealing cash from the Coffs Harbour police station has appeared in court.

Police allege Robert Drumgold, 59, was caught stealing a sum of cash from inside the Moonee St police station where he worked as a cleaner.

Mr Drumgold's arrest in late January came after a number of reported thefts of cash from certain spots within the station, police will allege in court.

Charged with steal property as a clerk/servant for a sum of less than $2000, Mr Drumgold was granted bail to reappear in the Coffs Harbour Local Court on April 14.

He is yet to enter a plea to the charge.
