SKIPPER Michael Clarke faces a race against time to be fit for Australia's opening Champions Trophy match against England at Edgbaston on Saturday.

Clarke watched on from the stands in Cardiff on Tuesday night as his team was humbled by India by 243 runs in its final warm-up game, before heading to London yesterday for specialist treatment on his back.

India managed 6-308 off its 50 overs after being in all sorts of trouble at 5-55 after 17 overs, Dinesh Karthick top-scoring with 146 off 140 balls.

The Aussies were skittled for just 65 in reply, paceman Umesh Yadav taking 5-18.
