Little girl dies after hit by falling tree at school

AN eight-year-old girl has died after being crushed by a falling tree at a Sydney primary school.

The nine-year-old was one of three people injured when the tree crashed to the ground at Pitt Town Public School this afternoon.

The girl was taken to Westmead Children's Hospital but died a short time later.

Three others were also injured after being struck by the tree limb.

A five-year-girl and a male teacher aged in his 50s have been taken to Westmead Hospital with serious injuries.

A seven-year-old boy has also been taken to Westmead Hospital with minor injuries.
