Charleville truck explosion hero sues state for compo

A HEROIC truckie who risked his own life to save a driver from a fiery crash in Charleville that triggered the largest explosion in Australian transportation history is set to sue the state for compensation.

Timothy John Bunyan, from Tottenham, near Dubbo in western NSW, filed an application in the Brisbane District Court last week.

The application states Mr Bunyan is seeking the green light to sue the Queensland Government for personal injuries he has suffered.

It is believed he is suing over injuries he sustained while rescuing Tony Eden, who crashed his B-double on the Mitchell Hwy about 30km outside Charleville in September 2014.
