Channel 7 airs 'illegal' Pistorius footage

FOOTAGE of Oscar Pistorius re-enacting how he claims he came to fatally shoot girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp has been shown overnight on Channel 7, with Pistorius defence lawyer Brian Webber saying the vision was obtained illegally.

The footage shown on current affairs show Sunday Night was purportedly made by the defence with the help of US based firm The Evidence Room to gather a visual representation of Pistorius' chain of events.

"For the family, the airing of this footage constitutes a staggering breach of trust and an invasion of the family's privacy," Mr Webber said.

Pistorius is currently on trial in South Africa for killing the 29-year-old model on February 14, 2013 following a heated argument.

The trial is to resume this week.
