THE CREW at Australia Zoo is encouraging everyone to don the khaki today in celebration of Steve Irwin Day.

Even though she's rarely out of her khakis, Terri Irwin said she got particularly excited every November 15 to put on the uniform and help continue Steve's message.

"Steve Irwin Day is such an incredible event that we hold each year together in honour of Steve, celebrating everything he was so passionate about - family, conservation and having fun," Terri said.

"He touched the lives of so many people and his important message of conservation is something everyone can be passionate about.

"Steve Irwin Day is all about remembering his message and the incredible man he was by taking on the khaki colour and attitude."

This year marks 10 years since Steve's passing and was the ninth celebration of Steve Irwin Day.

Guests were encouraged to wear khaki to the special day at the zoo with gates to open extra early at 8am and Australia's Got Talent winners Justice Crew to perform throughout the day.

All proceeds from Steve Irwin Day go towards Wildlife Warriors' conservation programs that Bindi Irwin said were so important to continuing her dad's dream.

"The only way that we are able to continue this vital work is through the kindness of donations and the support of Australia Zoo," she said.

"The funds that we make go straight back into our wildlife work, just as dad designed, and we will continue to do our best to carry on in his footsteps, forever."

All of the Irwins will be on scene at the zoo to celebrate Steve Irwin Day and will be feeding the crocs in the 12pm Wildlife Warriors show while teaching guests about Australia's apex predators and safety in crocodile territory.
