CC the Cat reggae album out of the bag

REGGAE funksters CC the Cat has a new album in the wings, a new keyboard player and a run of shows coming up in the next couple of months.

CC the Cat travelled to Ubud, Bali, in September last year to lay down its fourth studio release, Free Spirit, with Mullumbimby producer Benjamin Last (Deya Dova, Josh Arent) in a studio in the Ubud jungle.

Since then, Claire Cottone and Ben have spent months working on the tracks in a studio at Main Arm, Mullumbimby.

The album introduces the band's latest and sixth member, keyboardist Rohan Seekers, of Brisbane act Astro Travellers, who took out the Urban Award at the Queensland Music Awards.

Rohan will be joining the band for the next run of shows and the album launch. CC's other band members are bassist Julia Rose, drummer Dave Bell (Kingfisha), trumpeter Steven Buchanan (Bullhorn) and trombonist Ange Gadd.

The album, a collection of uplifting, inspirational reggae songs, is due for a mid-year release.

At the Nimbin Hotel tomorrow from 7pm.
