Cattle killed, driver hurt in truck crash

CATTLE have been killed and a truck driver is in hospital following a crash in country NSW.

A truck loaded with 63 head of cattle was headed for Coonamble, in the state's central west when it rolled late Tuesday.

The 49-year-old truck driver was treated at the scene for suspected broken ribs and taken to Dubbo Hospital in a stable condition.

About 40 cows were removed from the truck and secured in a nearby stock route paddock but 10 died in the crash.

Another 20 were being assessed by the cattle owner on Wednesday.
