Carbon tax to be top of agenda when Parliament resumes

POLITICAL wonks have just 26 days to wait until Parliament resumes in Canberra, with the destruction of the carbon tax to be the first item on the agenda.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott will ask Governor General Quentin Bryce to summon Parliament to return on November 12, 2013.

The opening days of the new Parliament are likely to be rife with fiery exchanges after Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said he would not support any government plan to dump the tax unless it was replaced with an emissions trading scheme.
