Rocky Mayor looking to cut fees after carbon tax repeal

ROCKHAMPTON Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said the recent repeal of the carbon tax would have flow on benefits for the community.

"Since yesterday's Federal Government repeal of the carbon tax, I've had informal discussions with our councillors and we have been considering how we can pass on the savings," Mayor Strelow said.

"There are a number of revenue areas that council will need to review, however we are intending to immediately adjust the fees and charges.

"This is great news for our residents with savings coming straight back to them.

"We will then consider a process to review the carbon tax component in our rates.

"We will further discuss these options at the next Performance and Service Committee meeting to be held on Tuesday 29 July."
