A FORMER Coutts Crossing man has been placed on a nine-month good-behaviour bond for assaulting his estranged wife in a supermarket car park.
Wayne Lindsay Goodwin, 35, now of Kalgoorlie, appeared in Grafton Local Court yesterday to answer charges of malicious damage and common assault.
The former couple had met on May 14 to discuss the upcoming birthday of their youngest daughter when a dispute erupted.
The accused followed the victim to the car park, where he damaged the car's paintwork and grabbed the woman by the wrists, causing her intense pain.
The court heard Goodwin had no prior criminal history and it was claimed the attack was out of character.
Magistrate Robyn Denes said the criminality of the offences was at the low end of the scale, but said there was deterrence value because of the domestic violence involved.
Goodwin was also fined $600 for damaging the car.
