Cannabis haul at Corindi
SHOCKED Corindi Beach residents watched as a police helicopter reportedly loaded up with cannabis made regular landings in the village yesterday.
Locals reported seeing the chopper land at a reserve at Macdougal Street at least four times during the afternoon and on each occasion it apparently had large bundles of cannabis hanging out the sides.
A large truck was also reported waiting for the helicopter and was accompanied by several four-wheel-drive vehicles and as many as 10 armed police officers wearing overalls.
It is thought the drugs had been found in forests west of the township, but senior police were late yesterday remaining tight-lipped about the ongoing operation.
