Suppliers forum held as Santos GLNG names contractors

WITH Gladstone at the epicentre of the global LNG trade, Santos GLNG has named its tier-one contractors while more than 150 people attended Wednesday's project forum to see how their businesses could get involved.

The project owners will need all levels of maintenance, which Clough AMEC, a Monadelphous Hatch joint venture, Transfield Worley Services and UGL have been named to take on as tier-one contractors.

The project update, run in conjunction with the Gladstone Engineering Alliance, was a chance for possible suppliers to understand how they can fit into the supply chain with services from labour supply, office support, cleaning, training, civil works, marine structure maintenance, offsite accommodation during shutdowns, recycling, couriers and logistical support and more services, all required by contractors.

GEA general manager Carli Hobbs told suppliers that with the project moving over to operations soon, the day was about "how you can play and win a share".

"Services must operate at a top level of performance and capability… and operating costs need to be as low as possible," she said.

"It is more cost effective to use local companies."

Santos GLNG downstream operations general manager Brenton Hawtin said it was a great opportunity to partner with the community.
