Top five innovators named by BRW

AUSTRALIAN business bible Business Review Weekly claims innovation is the number one thing on companies' minds as they look towards gaining an edge in today's digital economy.

BRW's Most Innovative Companies survey, to be released today, showed a 50% increase in the number of entries along with a rise in the number of entrants from the corporate sector.

BRW editor Michael Bailey said this year's survey was the strongest list of innovative companies ever compiled.

"Innovation is not just about what happens inside your business, it is also about your company's external relationships," he said.

"A recent study suggested that businesses in Australia and other rich countries are lagging their counterparts in the developing world in embracing open innovation."
