Hungry thief leaves note apologising for break-in

A BIZARRE break-in last Tuesday at the Mulgildie State School near Monto has many baffled.

After stealing about $150 in cash and a meal, the burglar left a note on the fridge.

"My apologies for taking your food but when one is fighting to survive, a simple ... microwave dinner is like a five-star meal. May God send good things your way for feeding a lost soul."

Monto Police said the break-in happened between 4.30pm and 6am, and window louvres had been pushed in to get access to the staff room.
